Soap residue is the leftover soap scraps plus minerals found in hard water. As the soap scum hardens on your glass shower doors, bathroom tiles, fiberglass shower surround, or metal fixtures, it can be hard to remove. If you have attempted scrubbing with your choice of bathroom cleaner and still left with soap residue, you may be looking for easy ways to oust it.

Highlighted below are a few ways that you can use to remove the soap residue in your bathroom.

DRYER SHEET

One of the uncommon ways is using the dryer sheet. This helps soften your laundry, while also removing scum. The same ingredients that soften and freshen your laundry can also help to soften soap residue. Point the blow-dryer on the dryer sheet for about 30 seconds for heating. Then rub the sheet over areas with stubborn soap scum. The dryer sheet may help to break the soap residue up so you can go over it with your preferred bathroom cleaner and a sponge to remove it easily.

BAKING SODA AND VINEGAR

Another method to remove soap scum is using a solution of baking soda and vinegar. Mix two parts of baking soda with one part vinegar. When the vinegar is added to the baking soda, it will stick and harden. Wait until it fizzles out and then mix them to form a paste. Rub the paste into the soap residue using a soft cloth or sponge. Allow the paste to dry before wiping it away. Keep applying it until the soap scum has lifted.

VINEGAR AND LIQUID DISH SOAP

The final approach in removing soap scum is to prevent it from forming in the first place. The most dependable way to prevent it from forming is to mix one cup of water with one cup of vinegar in a spray bottle. Add a squirt or two of liquid dish soap and swirl the mixture until it’s dissolved. Spray the mixture on your shower or bathtub after each use, leave it to dry, and wipe away with warm water.
